UMass Fine Arts Bridge Renovation - 2021
DAS provided General Contractor services for the renovation of the existing Fine Arts Center Bridge at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.
The project consisted of the interior demolition and hazardous materials abatement of existing walls, fittings, fixtures and equipment within the existing 4th floor Fine Arts Center Bridge, as well as the roof replacement of the bridge itself. The Bridge is a 646 ft. long precast concrete structure raised up 30 ft. from the ground, creating a monumental gateway for the campus. The space was previously occupied by the Departments of Architecture and Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning. With the opening of the John W. Oliver Building in 2016, much of the 4th floor bridge was vacated. This provided the College of Humanities & Fine Arts with much needed expansion space to serve the ongoing needs of the Art, Theater and Music departments.
